A new location has opened in the Plateau Mont Royal borough to help women and children escape violence. The transitional housing unit is part of a $48 million investment in women's shelters. According to Quebec Shelters, women and children are often turned away or forced to leave because of overcapacity. Officials say they hope the new housing unit will help relieve pressure on the system and support those in need. The goal is to open 67 units by June 2026. And Canada's AI minister opened G7 meetings in Montreal yesterday to promote new digital agreements with Europe amid tensions on AI regulation. Agreements with Germany and the EU will focus on AI, quantum technology, digital credentials, and responsible adoption.
