Sante Quebec has approved the May 9th launch of its digital health records pilot project in Montreal in Marissi. expected to cost upwards of $3 billion, despite ongoing concerns regarding the project's risks. Premier Frechette and Health Minister Sonia Belanger have maintained they will halt the project if necessary safety and performance guarantees are not met. In April, the Minister for Cyber Security and Digital Affairs, Gilles Belanger, suggested that it was heading for obvious derailment, but he was removed from his post and reshuffled out by Frechette Tuesday. Montreal officials are partially retreating on a plan to install parking meters in the Notre Dame de Cross neighborhood after intense public backlash. While hundreds are already slated for Cherbourg Street, the borough scrapped plans for residential side streets west of Descarries. Two petitions and widespread resident opposition sparked the sudden reversal. And Quebec's Consumer Protection Office is warning travelers about websites offering unusually cheap airline tickets that are later not honored. It says complaints have risen from consumers asked to pay higher prices or face penalties. after booking through unlicensed companies. Officials say some foreign-based platforms lack Quebec permits, making it harder for customers to seek refunds or recourse.
