The union said contract talks have stalled over pay and working conditions, and they're going to start canceling flights today for Wednesday. Pilots voted 99% in favor of a strike. One person has died after a fire in front of an abandoned building on Montreal's South Shore this weekend. Longay police and firefighters called just before 11 Saturday. The fire apparently broke out under a balcony of a former restaurant. Police say they discovered a body. The victim has not been identified. The West Island will soon be getting a new community hub. According to reports, the West Island Assistance Fund has officially acquired the Canada Post Distribution Centre in Roxborough-Pierrefont. The building will be transformed into a food bank, a thrift store and a bistro. All with holiday parties in full swing, those looking to celebrate, keep in mind the province's police are stepping up efforts to target impaired drivers. They'll have roadblocks and traffic checks. Now, according to police, driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs remains one of the leading causes of deaths on Quebec roads. Between 2019 and 2023, alcohol was involved in 28% of fatal collisions. and 15% of collisions resulting in serious injuries. Don't forget Operation Red Nose will offer rides until December 31st.
