Welcome to the Easter long weekend. Tomorrow is Good Friday. Some people get tomorrow off. Others won't have to work on Monday. Here's A rundown of what's opened and closed in the Montreal area. Now, everything on Sunday has to be closed under Quebec law, but some businesses are exempt. Grocery stores will be closed on Easter Sunday. The large format grocery stores, some of the smaller ones can stay open. Now, pharmacies will still be open for tomorrow, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday. Stores that sell booze and weed will not be open Easter Sunday. Banks will be closed Good Friday. Some will also be closed on Easter Monday. Some will open. Government offices closed Good Friday and Easter Monday, including Canada Post. A man convicted of first-degree murder in the 2021 drive-by shooting death of a 15-year-old Montreal girl will return to court today for sentencing. A jury found Salim Tuabi guilty last week and also convicted him on 4 counts of attempted murder. He automatically faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years. As we've seen gas prices jump over the past month, almost 50 cents, the Conservative Party of Canada's asking Ottawa to drop the federal tax on gas and diesel for the rest of the year. Tory say their plan would save Canadians 25 cents a liter. To pay for it, they suggest cutting the Liberals' wasteful spending on the, quote, gun buyback, bureaucracy, consultants, and foreign aid. And the crew of the Artemis 2 moon mission racing around the earth this morning at nearly 3,700 kilometers an hour as they prepare for their first full day in space. London astronaut Jeremy Hansen is serving his mission on the 10-day adventure.
