Good Thursday morning, December 4th. We've got a few flurries, windy sunshine this afternoon, but that temperature will drop. It'll feel close to minus 21. It's already getting colder. Minus 4 feels minus 10. The dollar 71.58 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Engelhart. Well, winter hasn't officially started, but it certainly feels like the middle of January. We are expecting really cold cold temperatures this afternoon, although in the Maritimes, it'll be even colder. Icy cold weather swept into parts of Atlantic Canada after yesterday's nor'easter. In New Brunswick, wind chills could feel minus 33 today and tomorrow. All doctors will not do as they're told, showing their opposition to Quebec's new health care law. According to reports, the heads of all the province's regional family medicine departments say they won't enforce certain parts of Bill 2, which changes how doctors are paid and adds penalties tied to patient volumes. Their stance was made public Tuesday in a joint letter sent to the premier and top health authorities. Consultations set to begin in Quebec today on a draft constitution meant to protect culture and values. The government tabled 2 bills months ago but was criticized for drafting it behind closed doors. The Justice Minister agreed to open the consultations to the general public as a gesture of goodwill. All just what we need in the face of the sky-high price of everything. A new report forecasts food prices will rise 4 to 6% next year. It's being blamed on trade disruptions and climate change. The latest food price report will see the average family of four pay about $1,000 more for food next year. Canada lifted almost all counter tariffs in September while the U.S. recently walked back tariffs on about 200 agricultural and food products. but drought conditions in the prairies in recent years have also helped lead to higher beef prices. Light 1067 Sports NHL last night, Montreal beat Winnipeg 3-2 in a shootout, and eight years after his unceremonious exit, Andre Markoff finally received a proper thank you from the Montreal Canadiens and their fans. The Bell Center welcomed Markoff with a more than two-minute standing ovation and a chorus of Ole, Ole. Elsewhere yesterday, no other Canadian teams played, but Dallas, Philly, Utah, Washington, all winners. Montreal is in Toronto Saturday at 7.
