Quebec family doctors have until Friday to vote on a deal that would see the provincial government back down on several controversial reforms in a new law that changes how physicians are paid. The tentative deal would scrap performance-related penalties and a color-coded system to assess patients' vulnerability. It would provide an additional $435 million in compensation for the doctors. The province would also abandon its goal of assigning all Quebecers to a health care provider by 2027. Instead, they'll offer incentives for doctors to enroll new patients. The deal would maintain changes to the method of remuneration for physicians, but would remove the threat of heavy fines for doctors who take concerted actions to oppose the bill. The Coalition of Near Quebec government passed Bill 2 late October and has faced heavy pushback from doctors ever since. Quebec confirmed 3 cases of measles linked to a pediatric medical center in an off-island suburb of Montreal. The first case was reported early December, the first in the province since April. People who visited up pediatric emergency center in Saint-Eustache during the afternoon or evening of November 28th may have been exposed. There were 36 cases reported in Quebec during an earlier outbreak. A music teacher at a private school in Montreal facing child **** charges. Thirty-nine-year-old Guillaume Etu worked at the Raine Marie School in Saint-Michel for 11 years before resigning in October. He was charged last Wednesday with producing and possessing child **** as well as communicating with an underage unknown person to commit an offence. Parents were sent an e-mail on the weekend.
