I'm Stacey Englehart. All the cold weather is the reason why parts of the Douglas Hospital in Montreal were flooded Monday. Burst pipes sent water gushing through the ceiling. The hospital didn't lose power, but the pipes from the sprinkler system still froze and burst onto the floors below. Apparently the areas affected were the labs where research takes place. Renaults had been scheduled for the hospital, but were apparently put on hold. Montreal police investigating after a woman was found dead inside her home in the city's West End Sunday. Montreal firefighters were apparently performing wellness checks because of power outages. The woman was found unconscious. At the time, the temperatures outside hovering about minus 18 degrees, making it feel much colder with the wind chill. Financial challenges with transit will see XO make significant spending cuts. According to reports, the transit agency will cut about $20 million from its operating budget this year. 11% of the workforce will lose their jobs. The transit company already announced last December the reduction or postponement of several projects. And the former mayor of Montreal has accepted a proposal with his creditors, allowing him to repay less than 1/4 of what he actually owes. Court documents show Denis Cordere owes about 1.1 million, but he'll only have to repay about 240,000 in monthly payments over five years. Revenue Quebec and the Canadian Revenue Agency were among those who signed off during the virtual meeting. Light 1067 Sports NHL yesterday, only one Canadian team played. Edmonton beat Anaheim 7-4. Elsewhere, the Rangers beat Boston. The Islanders blanked Philly. Tampa Bay blanked Utah. The LA Columbus game was postponed because of weather. Montreal will host Vegas tonight at 7. In the NBA, the Raptors host the Knicks tomorrow, 7.30. And former FIFA President Seth Blatter is backing a proposed fan boycott of World Cup matches in the United States because of the conduct of the U.S. administration at home and abroad. Blatter was the latest international soccer figure to call into question the sustainability of the U.S. as a host country. Light 1067 weather.
