The name of the pilots killed in Sunday's Air Canada plane crash at New York's LaGuardia Airport have been released. The pilots have been identified as Antoine Fouret from Coteau du Lac, just southwest of Montreal, and the other pilot, Mackenzie Gunther, from the Toronto area. The 2 pilots were killed when they were trying to land a flight from Montreal and crashed into an airport fire truck that was given the go-ahead to cross a runway to respond to another emergency. Investigators are looking into why. The daughter of a flight attendant on the plane that crashed, meanwhile, said it's lucky her mother survived. She was thrown from the jetliner and found by first responders still strapped in the seat amongst the debris. She apparently went for surgery after sustaining multiple fractures. A pedestrian in hospital with critical injuries after being struck by a car last night in Tarbonne. According to police, it happened before 8 in the city's La Plaine neighborhood, police appealing to witnesses. The Montreal Port Authority has not confirmed whether it agreed to a motion to start complying with all municipal regulations and environmental laws. The motion was adopted by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Transport. The City of Contrecourt's inventory of contaminated sites indicates the groundwater and certain soil plots owned by the Montreal Port Authority are contaminated with petroleum products and various metals. The MPA is planning major works to expand its terminal and will need approval before doing so. And the no pet clause violates the Quebec Charter of Rights and Freedoms. According to a recent ruling by the Tribunal Administrative du Lodgement, the case was brought forward by a lawyer on behalf of a tenant who claimed the lease clause prohibiting pets contravened her rights. March 12th, the tribunal concluded the provision indeed violates Articles 1 and 5 of the charter, which guarantees respect for a person's dignity, freedom, and privacy.
