Christine Prechette said to be sworn in as Quebec's premier today, with less than six months to go before the provincial election. She defeated Bernard Rainville in the race to replace Francois Legault, who created the Coalition of Near Quebec in 2011 and had been premier since 2018. The 55-year-old will be the province's second female premier after the Parti Quebecoise Pauline Marois held the role from 2012 through 2014. said she will name a cabinet next week and intends to make at least one announcement in the coming days related to the cost of living. The federal Liberals will table their spring economic update April 28th, giving Canadians a look at how the government is handling our money. The update is expected to highlight spending promises, including a boost to the GST benefit, and a new plan announced to waive the federal fuel excise tax until Labour Day. Police in Longueuil asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who cut off his ankle monitor and might be in the Montreal area. Police say 35-year-old Andre Philip Munoz is being actively sought under an arrest warrant for probation violations, assault, and harassing calls. Police say since learning he was wanted, he removed his ankle monitoring device, and authorities have lost track of him. Anybody with information is asked to call police. Light 1067 Sports.
