Police are looking for a Montreal man accused of a brazen jewelry heist at a mall yesterday in Ontario. 53-year-old Kyle Douglas Prouse is also accused of shooting a security guard who tried to stop him from leaving, sending the security guard to the hospital with serious injuries. Prouse was last seen driving a black Honda Accord. He was wearing gray pants, a blue cap with white paint flecks. Police warn he is armed and dangerous. now that Mark Carney's liberals hold a majority government, they're planning to update the House of Commons rules so they can hold a majority of seats on House committees. House Leader Steve McKinnon announced the move in a social media post yesterday. He's proposing that most committees will now have 7 liberals, 4 conservatives and one bloc. The standing orders are typically agreed upon unanimously, but he's proposing a change will require a vote in the House. Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne will appear next month before a House ethics committee to answer questions about his connection to the Aalto high-speed rail project. He recused himself from decisions last September after his partner took a senior role at the company, although the ethics commissioner said he was not in a conflict of interest. The Conservatives have questioned whether the recusal was properly implemented, citing a lack of public disclosures. The Liberals delayed the committee's decision through extended debate. And soccer fans who missed out on tickets for the 2026 World Cup will get another chance today.
