A Quebec judge has authorized a class action lawsuit against a private Montreal long-term care home over alleged mismanagement during the COVID outbreak in which 68 residents died. The lawsuit alleges Residence Angelica failed to follow proper protocol to manage the outbreak. The lawsuit is seeking damages on behalf of the people who lived at the home between April 9th and June 26th, 2020, as well as their family and caregivers. A LaSalle contractor accused of poor workmanship and taking customer deposits while doing nothing in return. is now facing criminal charges. Eric Arella, who operates under the name EA Construction, is facing 2 counts of fraud, but at least a dozen West Island residents are speaking out to say his work was of poor quality, left unfinished, and he did not have a valid license. According to reports, many of his customers have sued him in small claims court, but were unable to collect any money. The Prime Minister is defending his government's plan for a proposed high-speed rail line. Kearney said the project connecting Quebec City and Toronto would create more than 50,000 jobs and contribute more than $35 billion to the economy. Opposition is growing from communities where land will be expropriated. Kearney said the project will only require about 10 metres and people who lose their land will be compensated. And there's apparently been a ceasefire in the Middle East. Iran, the U.S. and Israel say they've reached a deal for a two-week ceasefire. Taran said negotiations with the U.S. will happen in Islamabad beginning on Friday, although Israel's prime minister made it clear he's going to continue bombing Lebanon. Light 1067 Sports. PWHL last night, Montreal beat Seattle 4-1. Baseball yesterday, the Jays lost another game to the Dodgers, this time 4-1. That home series wraps up this afternoon with one more game at 3.
