While some residents are still waiting to get the heat and lights back on, this storm caused power outages in almost every region in the province. Hydro crew said strong winds damaged trees that knocked over some hydro poles. As of last night, upwards of 90,000 households still did not have power. Quebec's finance minister said to table his budget today for the upcoming fiscal year. Speaking to journalists yesterday, Eric Gerrard said Quebecers should not expect any new big ticket items as the province tries to reduce the deficit. Today's budget is the last before the fall general election. the federal government's going to spend more taxpayer money to appeal a Supreme Court lower decision that found its use of the Emergencies Act 4 years ago was unconstitutional. Government invoked the act to stop protests in the nation's capital and at key border points in 2022. While in 24, a federal court ruling rejected the use of the act, found it breached our charter rights. A January ruling affirmed that decision, but the feds are going to appeal it anyway. As gas prices continue to fluctuate and the price of oil now hovering at about $93 a barrel due to the U.S. and Israel's war with Iran, fighting within the U.S. government resulted in a major player stepping down. The director of National Counter-Terrorism claimed Iran posed no immediate threat and the U.S. only went to war because of pressure from Israel. police launching the second edition of its Salute project aimed at finding suspects accused of fraud. Police releasing surveillance camera footage of alleged suspects not yet identified. Police are hoping to get their identities.
