Jean-Francois Rivera, the minister responsible for the French language, says that applying Bill 101 to vocational training and adult education would move 27,000 students from the English language system to the French language system. This during yesterday's budget debate, the minister clarified that the 27,000 individuals are not eligible students, meaning they would not be entitled to attend an English language elementary or secondary school. The commitment to extend Bill 101 to vocational training and education was made by Christine Frechet in the leadership race. The bill to fulfill this promise has yet to be introduced. The parliamentary session ends on June 12th. Prominent Montreal civil lawyer Daniel Rockford is facing 9 charges involving sexual child offenses in addition to the counts brought against him last week. Rockford appeared at the Montreal courthouse on Monday. The latest charges filed against him include sexual interference, sexual assault, and invitation to sexual touching, all involving a minor. These acts were allegedly committed between January 2007 and January 2012. All charges appear to involve a single alleged victim. Ontario's Auditor General had a lot to say about the province's new artificial intelligence transcription services for doctors. Shelley Spence says the so-called AI scribe software is at risk of providing inaccurate information and outright hallucinations. She claims it was not evaluated adequately before implementation. Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement Stephen Crawford says medical practitioners will always review the notes before a decision is made. And the Prime Minister and a few Ottawa venues will be playing host to some visitors from outer space today. The 4 astronauts who wowed the world with their record-breaking 10-day journey to the far side of the moon last month have a series of events in the nation's capital. Canadian Jeremy Hansen and his American Artemis 2 crewmates will meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney and then some students at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Later, they'll take part in a sold-out public discussion at the National Arts Center about their mission and its effect on future space exploration. In sports, the only Canadian NHL team left in the Stanley Cup playoffs lost game four of its second round series last night with the Buffalo Sabres.
